Unique to check out

Critics

I recently came across this pop rock band based in London the other day on YouTube and stumbled across their single and video for 'I have a gun'. This four piece have a really infectious sound with commercial tendencies that you can already imagine hearing on the radio. These boys have already played some iconic venues including The Electric Ballroom in London and are currently on the bill for Camden Rocks later this year.  With catchy guiar riffs, sentimental lyrics and a sultry rockier edge, it looks like it's only a matter of time before they are gracing our ears on a much larger scale. I think this is most definitely a band to watch out for!

I recently did an interview with Critics, we talk gigging, touring, new music and lots more! Check it out here:

"For us it was more about pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible for us and seeing what come out."

First of all can you tell us an interesting fact about yourselves

We're located all over the country! We have members from Lincoln, Essex and Sunderland but we still managed to practice once a week.

You have an awesome Rock ‘n’ Roll edge, how would you describe you’re music to new ears?

We're trying to have that rock honestly with our lyrics but we try a create a commercial sound that you hear on the radio. So it's kind of a mix of both rock and pop, that's how we best describe it.

Do you take any inspiration for your music from any particular bands/artists?

We all have different music tastes as individuals but I think that plays to our benefit. We take a lot of inspiration from different producers.

You’re off on a UK tour very soon too, what are you most looking forward to on the tour?

We've pretty much been on tour all month, and it's been great to meet so many new people. As cliche as it sounds one of the best things on tour is playing live, when a crowd responds to your music it's really inspiring.

And you’ve also been announced for Camden Rocks festival which is really cool, how does it feel to be playing that?

It's great, it's the first festival we've played as a band so we're really looking forward to testing ourselves on a festival stage.

You’re most recent track ‘I have a gun’ has a really catchy sound, what inspired you to write this song?

I have a gun is a track that we really developed in the studio, and it was the first track that made us realise what sound we wanted this band to be. For us it was more about pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible for us and seeing what come out.

Where do you generally take writing inspiration from?

Again as cliche as it sounds we write about whatever is going in our lives, dreams and aspirations. We think that our songs are lyrically very honest

Are you writing or recording anything new at the moment?

We're always writing and in the studio, we have a lot of material but we're always trying to better each song we write.

If you could play any festivals which one would it be and why?

For us I think it would have to be Reading and Leeds. It's the festival we always used to go to when we were younger and it's the one we have the most attachment to, To walk on Reading and Leeds main stage is a goal we want to achieve.

And finally if you could form a super group with any artist who would it be and what would you call yourselves?

That's a hard one to answer because we have very different tastes in our music, but if we chose anyone it would have to be one of the greats, who we could really learn from, but i don't think we could pin point who that would be, there's too many to choose from!
