Newly formed quartet, CAROLINES, consisting of Ashley Kidd, Mitchell Dare, Tyler Vaughn and David Trevorrow, release their brand new, debut EP and it's brimming in huge chorus' and addictive full throttle guitar fueled melodies.
First track to kick off the debut EP is first ever single, 18 , which had its first spin on Adam Walton's BBC Radio Wales show back in 2017. 18 has an infectious head bopping flow which floats nicely into the reminiscent straining chorus taking you through a journey of adolescence.
Setting up whats to offer on the EP, it flows musically into the mellowest record of the quartet of songs, The Window. Changing the pace with a sprinkle of grunge undertoning the verses, it encapsulates frontman, Ashley, lethargic vocal take on this track which drifts among the deep guitar inflections from Mitchell. A wonderful guitar solo before the track seeps away is a nice touch to the end.
Next is incredibly charming record Jealous. It has a touch of the American Indie Rock feels about this one. Beaming with a belting chorus and a gorgeous twang to the guitars during the verses, it has an infectious flow and a musically laid back vibe. We pick up the pace for a sure crowd pleasing ending to the song. The recording of this particular track is wonderfully produced and prepares to ooze into the final anthem, Blow The Gasket. This record is soaked in aesthetically British songwriting, it's an anthemic set ender with electric force. The chorus is a roaring crowd pleaser, amplified by Ashley's gritty exclamations. Its a greatly produced and arranged track, with an anticipating build towards the end with spine tingling apprehension during a slight gap before preparing to howl the chorus for the final time. Absolutely slamming track to finish an excellent debut EP.
The Carolines are also playing a free launch at Ten Feet Tall, Cardiff.
January 19th.
