INTO THE ARK//BRIGHTEST CREATURES//REVIEW

Into The Ark have had a great 2016. It's been a year of releases from this Blackwood duo. We've seen their music develop over the past couple of years and indeed over this current year. This harmonising doublet brought 'Right Track' to our attention first, an acoustically driven track with those classic soulful vocal techniques and slow tempos. Later this year we were then uplifted with a huge sound in the form of sixties inspired track and debut single 'My Ghost' with atmospheric video to match.

Now we have been given a brand new release, 'Brightest Creatures' which continues this brand new anthemic sound the boys are portraying. It's made Spotify's 'New Music Friday' alongside artists such as Elbow, Izzy Bizu and Deezer's 'Brand New UK' Playlist.

The track kicks off and we are set with a pace of stripped back, harmonising vocals alongside exposed instrumentals which begin the track nicely as it flows into the verse. These musical themes continue through the verses as we are met with Taylor's sixties sounding soulful strain amongst again, like 'My Ghost', that underlining rock and roll twist. The rhythm of the song overall is ridiculously catchy. Leading into the chorus, the bridge meets us with emphasis on the vocals and harmonies from Dane and Taylor and a slight pace change. 'The dark that hears us howling. And the moon that sees the curtains close' fits nicely over gentle guitar strums.

The chorus flows straight back into the upbeat tempo and big array of instrumentals. This really emphasises the rock 'n' roll , Motowny feel throughout the anthem. The chorus exclaiming the title line will have you singing along for ages. It's a very infectious track that showcases the boys both musically and vocally. Both very talented musicians is what sets them apart and draws in such a wide audience. Mixing a vintage soul sound with pop anthemic undertones is sure a winner. Watch this space!
