Tuesday night, Clwb Ifor Bach ready to go and the floor was quickly intimately filled as Otherkin bounded onto the stage with electrifying energy. After being hotly tipped and playing some mammoth shows throughout the year, the anticipation was high, following from their slamming debut album release just a few weeks prior, to hear these tunes live was a treat. Having a strong roster of live shows under their belt including support slots for some of the hottest bands in the UK right now, The Amazons & Inhaven, plus opening for legends Guns N Roses and a debut at Download Festival, I was ecstatic to see what these guys had to offer.
The execution of each track from debut album 'OK' eluded the musicianship held between the bands tight guitar riffs and melodious edge intertwined with catchy drum beats and well crafted lyricism. Frontman Luke really got the crowd stoked, mosh pits formed as that crunchy chorus kicked in for REACT which saw the audience belting the lyrics back. Luke joined the crowd jumping on a banister for statement record 'Ay Ay'. The production of the album itself was showcased to the nines in Clwb Ifor Bach and an insanely bright young band who are going to take the future by absolute storm. The riffs are endless and the gorgeous grunge 90s vibes come out perfectly in tracks like '89 and 'Come On Hello'.
The whole band enticing the addictive sound even higher as the gritty side to the records hit the roof. Definitely a band to keep your eyes on. Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, they are set to steal an even bigger year next year and with an extensive album tour all over the UK and Europe continuing as we speak, it's only up and up for this dynamic grunge fuelled quartet. The records lean between early Libertines, Oasis and the gnarly vocals from noughties indie gems The Cribs and The Strokes. Go and take a listen to 'OK'
