Softly Softly Catchy Monkey

Gathering acts from all around the country and indeed Europe, it scowers to find some of the freshest sounds. As I'm a Welsh gal at the moment, due to doing a University degree right here in the capital of Cardiff, lets take a look at some of the Welsh Talent they have in their midst.

AL LEWIS

So let's take a look at this fella from North Wales. Well what immediately jumps out to the listener is the interesting vocals which sound very similar to those of Mr James Taylor which is always a great start, Take a listen to 'Blackbird and the Magpie' and you'll see. Beginning back in 2007 where he co-wrote a song for 'The Song For Wales' competition and placing first in the songwriters section and second in the overall competition, pretty cool eh. He's pretty skilled in the welsh music world too as he's managed to gain two BBC Radio Cymru Awards for 'Best Male Artist'. Well deserved as well, Al's songwriting is brilliant and has a real 70s influence. Definite easy listening with tracks like 'Make A Little Room', and an album worth of meldoic tunes on his newest release 'Battles', it's definitely worth a check out for some lovely acoustic and well thought out lyrical tracks.

KEYS

Now these guys have a really cool vibe indeed! They have a this rock and roll indie sound going on that sounds really quite unique. Their song 'Shake It Up' has a really cool Black Keys feel and is a definite tune, along with tracks like 'Wade In The Water' I am absolutely loving the sound of these guys! Their debut album released back in 2011 'Bitten By Wolves' gathered lots of recognition from the likes of Huw Stephens, Bethan Elfyn, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2. Watch them go eh, and no doubt they will be catching lots of attention from their brand new single 'Hard Habit To Crack' released on the 4th of August.
